Background and Qualifications

Ms. Akinyi is an Associate in the Firm’s Dispute Resolution and Litigation Practice. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from Mount Kenya University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law. 

She is a passionate learner that joined the firm in as a pupil and has over time learnt to achieve the best outcome for clients. She is a diligent, hardworking and tenacious lawyer with a strong work ethic and seeks to attain excellence in all she does. She is a great researcher with experience in legal drafting, preparation pleadings and dispute resolution.

Part of the team that successfully petitioned the High Court for declaration of Regulation 13c of the Election (Registration of Voters) Regulations 2012 is unconstitutional to the extent that it curtails a voter’s right to freely make political choices and to transfer registration;

Reviewed and drafted a variety of pleadings and legal documents;

Assisted in handling several highly contested employment claims both for employers and employees revolving around unfair termination;

Part of the team that handled complex litigation and dispute resolution of commercial law disputes; real estate and conveyancing disputes; public procurement disputes; and family and succession disputes;

Assisted in the representation of various Governors, Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies in various Election Petition;

Assisted in the representation of various companies and individual clients in the recovery of debts in millions of shillings.
